24 The Second Regatta

This was kind of the opposite to our first regatta. Rather than racing around Grenada on Catnip, it was several races around a 2 kilometer course just in front of the Marina.

We raced J24’s. These are 24 foot boats, that sail quite well. There were three of these boats, seven teams, with crews of three and four sailors.

Each team had three races, racing against the other six teams, and each team had a race in each of the three J24s.

Chris was our skipper, and did a great job. Some times we passed within a foot or two of the other boats as we tacked up and down the course. Very exciting, and at times nerve racking. Some races were in lighter winds, some stronger winds and we even had a race in the rain.

The teams scored, 1,2, or 3 points depending on your finish, (1 for first,..) and the lowest total after three races was the winner. We went 2,2,3, for 5th overall, and had a fun day.

The rain did come down hard, but not for long, just enough to cool us off.
