7 Green Turtle to Fowl Cay

This would be a fun trip. Out to the open Atlantic for a bit, before ducking back in behind the Cays. “Keys”

When you’re behind the Cays, it’s referred to as on the inside, or on the banks. Water is 2-5 meters deep on the banks, and of course goes right to zero as you go to shore.

To get to the open, you have to go through a break in the reef. These breaks are referred to as “cuts”. These cuts can get quite rough, and when very rough, they are referred to as a “rage”. You don’t want to be near them during a rage. A rage can happen when the tide, wind and current, are strong and going in different directions. We never went through a cut during a rage, but saw a few boats that had tried.

Even the pros have bad days.

OK, back to happy thoughts. One thing we were looking forward to on this voyage was the end. Not because we didn’t like the trip, but because we would see friends from back in Florida, Drake and Anna, on Diamond Hands. We anchored with them that evening and caught up on each other’s travels.

The next morning we went snorkeling, and that was good as well. I will have to develop a little more faith in our i phone water proof bags and get some under water shots.
